The 2019 General Election changed the face of the British political landscape. For so long, Labour had dominated in the North of England but the new cohort of ‘red wall’ Conservative MPs won Boris Johnson the biggest majority since Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister.
George Osborne’s vision of the Northern Powerhouse was given a political boost in the rebranded ‘levelling up’ agenda. The Northern Research Group came together to represent the interests of so many people in our towns and cities; to ensure that our voices are heard; and make that step change in opportunity for all our constituents.
